With the coming of July also came the beginning of CPNC efforts to gain ballot access for the Constitution Party in the state of North Carolina in time for the general election of 2004.  Cal Zastrow, the national party's field coordinator, was in the Charlotte, NC area through July 20 to assist with this effort and to train volunteers who were willing to help. Email or call us right away if you are interested in getting involved. Contribution incentives are also being offered to encourage donations toward this effort.  See our June Newsletter for details. []

New Officers Appointed
After receiving nominations in the month of April to fill two state party vacancies, Michael Harrison, chairman of the state party, announced the appointment of qualified men to these posts.  Appointments are for the time remaining until officers are elected for these posts at the next Statewide Meeting.  Appointed as the new party Secretary is Mr. Ken Dunn of Pineville, NC.  Mr. Dunn is presently organizing in the Charlotte area the state party's second Institute on the Constitution.  Also appointed as the new party Treasurer is Mr. Erik Wilson of High Point.  Mr. Wilson wowed us in 2002 with a sharp color edition of a printed newsletter mailed to party members and friends.  Both of these men are principled men of character and we look forward to their contributions in the near as well as distant future.

CPNC First Television Exposure
CPNC received its first official TV exposure on Sept. 8 at 11:00am on NBC-17 in Raleigh.  The program, hosted by Monty Knight, featured five of the alternative parties in North Carolina.  Representing the CPNC was Acting Chairman, Michael Harrison.  Exposure was brief - each representative was given about three 15 or 20 second spots to make statements and answer questions offered by the show's three hosts.  The most important aspect of the program is that viewers were presented with alternatives to the same old two-party system here in NC, and viewers were repeatedly told about how unfair the ballot access laws are, being that they favor the two major parties.  Tapes of the program were not available from the station.  []
